Thats a bit dodgy that. Makes it easier to get ur card no and use fraudulently. :spangled:

What do you mean? it's easier to get your account number? you can't do anything with an account number and a sort code apart from pay money into an account.

Did I misunderstand then? Cos you said your sort code and account number makes up part of ur card number? Well thats 12 digits and your card number is only 16 in total. So...you only need to know the first 4 digits and you have ur card no aswell as your account number. To me, its more risky than having a random number :)

yeah you understood me right but the only place that number is, is on your card if someone gets hold of your card they've got the number, if they don't get hold of your card they don't have your number.

It's the same with any card, and if someone gets hold of your card all cards have the account number on it somewhere so It doesn't really matter.

The good thing about it is that it's easier to remember you 16 digit number so you can just real it off without your card.

yeah it is, what I mean is the only place in the world that the four digit number is at the start of my 16 digit number is on the card so they would still have to get my card to get that number just like someone would need your card to get all your 16 digit number, but if the person has your card they've got the whole number don't they so it doesn't matter whether your acount number is included.

Do you get me now

Or statement, or receipt from the cash point, or a disused cheque. Do you not realise how easy it is to use a card fraudulently?
