    Re: Jury Service!!!

I done it Mick about 3 years ago, was an eye opener  to say the least. Take plenty of mags to read cos you spend ages waiting round, also plenty £££ for a few beers down the quayside during lunch. Depends on the case you get, the one I got was pretty grim.

Full pay from work, depending on the case could be over quick.

I never have to do it again, we were excused by the judge due to the disturbing nature of the case

    some people never get selected

yeah it depends on what case your on for, my mate at work was there a day for a few shop lifters, while his mate was in for quite a big case for a couple of weeks and had to stay in a hotel when he wasnt in court, untill it was over.

I did two weeks work experience at gateshead magistrates court whilst at school. I sat with the Clerk or the Court. It was at the time when ram-rades were all the crim craze, they were up court for it. I liked it.

These three rogues were up for some crime, can't remember what, one of them cought me staring at him, so he starts eyeballing me back agressive like...I cept his gaze for a good while then broke off - and was shiteing it for the rest of the day in case they would be waiting outside later:D

I think the selection is done from the Election roll or something, I aint been selected yet but I reckon it would be quite interesting with the right case, it could be a nightmare tho.

yeah it is selected from the Electro Roll! I got selected twice once when I was in the middle of doing my A levels - You have to have a really good reason to get out of it normally a Doctor's note but luckly enough the Head Of Education wrote a letter to them stating it was a bad time as i would miss an exam! Then again I wasnt so bothered as I was going to fail the exam any case :dunce: But to my suprise I passed! :D

Then last year I got called up and it was quite intresting! It totally depends on the case! Some of them are real boring like shoplifting - somone could off done it so many times they have taken it to court! Great! BUt mine was a rape case Your not really aloud to say much about it as you swear not too!

Itwas real intresting to listen to the evidence adn each side of teh case but real hard to decide where you believe the truth is and hard not to get emotionally involved especially from the womens point of view!

It taught me a lot I couldnt work in that type of job - far too har dand I am to opinionated I wouldnt be able to keep my mouth shut at abusing the offendent!

It will be a fascinating experience and should be nothing to worry about at all.

All you got to do is give your verdict!

Don't worry about it being the right one - just make YOUR decision the rest is out of your hands. Don't feel any guilt!
