Originally supposed to be housed monthly at Liverpool’s Cream - after working on the idea since March 2002, the club’s subsequent closure meant that Yousef had to take his party elsewhere. He did. Finding a new home that couldn’t be more perfect for the Circus concept: The Masque, an old disused Theatre in his hometown of Liverpool. Excerpt ‘Circus’: ". Within three months and with help from Circus’ Co-Promoter Richard McGuiness, Circus grew from a 500 to a 1200 capacity venue, gaining a dedicated, educated, party-wise following along the way from Liverpool and across the UK. A year on Circus has achieved its simple aims - fun times and serious house music... So far Sneak, Josh Wink, Darren Emerson, Lottie, Mutiny, Erick Morillo, Layo and Bushwacka, Doc Martin, MYNC project, Gene Farris, Greg Vickers, Danny Rampling, Dave Beer, Jon Carter, Phil Weeks, Tim Deluxe, Paul Woolford, Deep Dish, Ralph Lawson, Krysko, Onionz, Danny Howells, James Zabiela - the worlds finest DJs, have all graced the decks. Yousef and Richard, along with the help of new resident DJ Lewis Boardman have also given the chance to many aspiring DJs to play at the club by holding Circus DJ compe***ions where DJs from the UK, Europe and beyond have sent in their mix CDs for the Circus team to judge offering the best a chance to play in the Circus bar. “Circus exsits for me to play in my home town of Liverpool. After Cream closed I wanted to carry out my concept so I turned to my long time friend and ‘Chibuku’ promoter Richard McGuiness. We turned it around and turned it on in just 5 Weeks! I've played at every Circus and they have got better and better each month. I can’t believe how far we have come in such a short space of time. The effort and love we put into the night shows in each party. Although we now have a production team headed by Alan Green ALL of us still get physically stuck in making the live music venue that houses Circus into a club. Each Month the venue, the vibe , the night itself gets better. Sweat and tears have litterally been shed getting these parties organised in time for 10pm each month which, for me, is why people can feel the vibe as they walk in.
