read it again, when forks put forwarded the notion that he was against religion when it has a negative impact on individuals, I suggested that he shouldn't limit this notion to religion and instead should oppose all negative beliefs from paedophelia to murder... To limit it to religion is infact a bigotry. Do you understand yet?
but maybe he dose (stay with me on this one forks) maybe if his belief led him to have murderous thought's about a person or persons for what ever reason, as long as those thoughts stayed just thoughts then that would not infringe anyone else , the moment that his thought's become actions I.e he sought to carry out those thoughts on someone , that's when it would infringe the person or persons , he can think negative all he like's about anyone , so you comment is a bit of a non-entity
I don't believe in free speech, people can think whatever they like but actions (including words) can be harmful. if your beliefs infringe on the rights of others I believe you should keep them to yourself.
however your subsequent argument that parents have the right to bring up their children with any belief system they choose is not right IMO there are the nigerian parents who have allowed some nutcase preacher to convince them that their child is a witch and the only way to get the evil out is to torture the child. that can't be right even if it is the sincerely held beleif of the parents
Treason still carries a death penalty, but in this day and age it would never happen. Crikey, this thread has gone a but off subject like. One mention of something Jewish and it's gone on to be a full on religious argument.
It's not right in my eyes either, I guess its an incredibly complex subject which is deeply influenced by the social norms we're conditioned with.... But as I'm Jewish/British I judge people according to values I've grown up with. The blood thing I understand as I can correlate it with my own beliefs (although uin Judaism you must do everything possible to save a life), but the torture seems to extreme for me to accept.

but that would make for a very boring message board. lets all keep our opinions to our self and have no discusion what so ever for fear of offending someone Joe you are mr P.C. well done
religion isn't necessary to become a bomber. you just have to feel part of a group suffering injustice. We created the bombers IMO by our reckless foreign policies. Islam gave them a cause to rally round. Nationalism would have sufficed.
