Tbh Iv'e never really noticed it that much when im playing? but it's dreadfull when im listening to guests & it's happening 4-5 times throughout an hour long set. I dont think there hasn't been 1 headliner I dont keep n touch with that hasn't complained about the sound system after theyv'e played. Im no sound technition etc.. but it either needs a stronger system/amp or the club need to pay a sound tech to sit in on the night? Proudy, half cut wiggling wires just isn't going to fix it
Will try and get myself through for this Mr Proud been meaning to rekindle my trance pants for a while now but havent had the coin or always been working on a saturday and its a bit of a trek back home after what no doubt lies ahead after the Ballrooms
Get yasel doon for some madness man Sweeny, was a bit of a treck for you last time but no doubt you'll be more than welcome where ever we end up? definately get yourself down again man!
How about a wrecked crowd member taking wires out the back of the mixer and rearranging them?? Apparently thats what Amnesia do and the sound is always spot on there, could be worth a go??
Im not to sure to be honest, i remember when Mac Zimms played tho & the mixers levels were pissing all kinds of colours, the system was rediculous that night. I think it must have some sort of cut out level or summit where if it gets too loud it just cuts out? I never turn the levels any higher than what the previous DJ has had it on, but like I say iv'e never really noticed it cutting out on me just when the guests are on it seems to be more prominent.
OMG he was a fukin nightmare! (naming no names LOL ). ...the sound system packs in for a few minustes & this loony stops dancing, turns round & decides to start taking all the wires out the back of the mixer...... buckled! :spangled:
Yeah, it could be a case of them clipping. If the amp is being pushed to a level it cant handle, the signal will start to clip the signal that is beyond it's capacity. Thus the cutting out sound you may hear. If this is happening it can also start overheating the amplifiers. Which could inturn fuck them completely.
You should try it out before the night starts. Just have a fuck about and see if you can figure out when it does it. I'm not too sure about decks and mixers and stuff but I used to do electronics, building and testing amplifiers. Do you do anything with the gain when you're mixing? LOL (I'm a total halfwit when it comes to mixing) Usually the gain can't be turned up so much that it will cause this to happen but it may be this.:spangled:
If it's clipping then turn the gains and the master right down on the mixer and use the amp/equalizer controls and let the amp do the work, the mixer should only be used for slight volume adjustments imo, not for cranking the system right up!!
Its ridiculous how people dont even realise what clipping is. Low turned right up and gains all over the shop? whats so difficult about leaving the eq at 0 whilst not mixing it up and having the gains set so it doesnt clip the red? Turn the sound up at the amp and try to avoid doing it too much at the mixer? Still struggling? Get a more powerfull amp!
Spot on! You would of thought if no one knew what to do then the managers at cosmic ballrooms would hire in a techy to sort it out.
What I wanted to say in better words. Mixers are not amps no matter how expensive! The general rule if it clips is turn it down! Starting from the mixer right back to the amp, and let the amp do the work!!
Assuming that this is what the problem is of course. I'm 90% sure that's what it'll be although you would of thought someone down the line would of knew this already. Maybe theres a fault with the amplifiers themselves. We'll have to wait and see i guess.
Sound has not cut out at all last couple of times we have been there. I agree though, it's still not ideal at all. System has not been helped by various other DJ's redlining/pushing it too far/causing damage.... They are 100% sorting the system out in the very near future though. I believe they are going to put a new one in downstairs and move the present downstairs one upstairs.
Exactly mate... Its gradually getting there... The club is wicked now its been turned around once the sound is sorted then it'll be a bangin little club
